CABSHIP and OCTOMAR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday, June 8, in Luanda for the creation of a diving and offshore marine support company in Cabinda Special Economic Zone.

The new company will be held 50% by each company and will provide subsea and offshore maritime support services in shallow and deep waters in the Cabinda offshore. The future Caio maritime terminal is also in the sights of the 100% Angolan joint venture, which will be registered in the Cabinda Special Economic Zone. The signatories of the MoU were Luís Lago de Carvalho, executive board member of OCTOMAR, and João Filipe, CEO of CABSHIP. Lago de Carvalho, executive board member of OCTOMAR, stated that “Cabinda was the province that allowed our company to grow and, above all, train most of our divers. We have continued to operate in Cabinda, but from our base in Luanda, and we thought we should change this situation by finding a solid partner with the same vision about local content, like CABSHIP, to do so. With the creation of the Cabinda Special Economic Zone, we finally decided to move forward, and this is the first step towards what we hope will be a successful local company with many reasons for pride for all.”

Meanwhile, João Filipe, CEO of CABSHIP, said that “this strategic partnership between Angolan companies aims to demonstrate our commitment to continue adding value to the service provision value chain for the oil sector by Angolan companies.
