OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY DISCUSSED AS A CATALYST FOR ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION
As part of the panel under the theme “The Oil and Gas Industry as a Catalyst for Economic Transformation”, participants included CABSHIP’s CEO, João Filipe; Martin Deffontaines, Managing Director of Total Energies; Katrina Fisher, Managing Director of ExxonMobil Angola; Frank Cassulo, Managing Director of Chevron’s Strategic Business Unit for Southern Africa; and Edson Pongolola, Planning Director of Sonangol.
In his remarks, João Filipe presented CABSHIP as an Angolan company headquartered in Cabinda, specializing in petroleum material management, and highlighted the company’s 16 years of experience in the logistics sector.
“We have been adding value to the logistics chain ecosystem. The inventory we manage on behalf of our clients amounts to nearly one billion dollars. There is, therefore, a strong Local Content DNA within the Oil & Gas ecosystem. We intend to continue engaging more and fostering greater collaboration with both Angolan and international companies. The Angolan business community is eager to seize the opportunities that this sector presents,” he emphasized.
The executive further stressed the importance of leveraging the platform offered by the sector to ensure that Local Content companies play a key role in the country’s industrialization process, beginning with industries capable of supplying equipment to the oil and gas industry, and eventually extending to other areas of the national economy.
“We want to see more Angolan companies entering this sector with professionalism, using resources aligned with international standards that will, over time, allow us to export services to other countries,” added João Filipe.
The panel concluded with a call to strengthen cooperation between Angolan and international companies, to consolidate the sector as a true driver of economic transformation in Angola
