6TH OIL AND GAS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS THE IMPORTANCE OF LOCAL CONTENT

The 6th edition of the Angola Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition opened yesterday in Luanda, under the theme “ANGOLA 50 YEARS: OIL & GAS AS A DRIVER OF DEVELOPMENT”, with the objective of reinforcing Angola’s position as one of Africa’s leading oil producers.

The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, who underscored the importance of Local Content. During his visit to the exhibition, the Head of State was received by João Filipe, CEO of CABSHIP, who presented the company’s services and social responsibility initiatives, such as youth employment creation and the granting of scholarships.

In his keynote address, President João Lourenço stressed that Local Content “assumes a strategic importance, as it ensures that the benefits of natural resource exploitation are shared fairly and sustainably with Angolan society.” The President also highlighted the need for a solid commitment between the State, operators, investors, and the private sector to ensure the effective implementation of these policies.

The event aims to consolidate Angola’s ambition to attract over 60 billion U.S. dollars in investments over the next five years, reaffirming the country’s commitment to developing the oil sector and strengthening its position on the international stage.

The President’s visit to CABSHIP’s stand was considered “gratifying” by the company’s CEO, João Filipe, who viewed the gesture as an encouragement to “continue working with dedication and responsibility.” He further emphasized that CABSHIP will continue to strengthen its contribution to Local Content, which he considers a fundamental pillar for Angola’s economic diversification and industrialization.
